Cagayan de Oro Rotary Club

The Cagayan de Oro Rotary Club, which is also known as the Mother Club, initially grew from a small group of 17 members. It was formally organized on the 22nd of April 1948 and eventually grew to become the biggest organization of its kind in Mindanao.

The group, which was formerly known as the Rotary Club de Misamis, was sponsored by the Rotary Club of Cebu. Few of its earliest leaders included the likes of Isidro Vamenta, Harnando Pineda, Liz Floirendo, Johnny Paraiso, Don Tamparong, and others.

Currently, the organization is headed by Dietmar Schug.

Along with Dietmar Schug, this non-religious and non-political organization is composed of several distinguished professionals and business and community leaders who are all eager to serve and promote high ethical standards in the community. Having one goal in mind, the organization initiates various projects and activities that are centered on advocating the importance of health, education, and improvement. On top of all these, the organization also works to alleviate poverty in order to pave the way for further community development as well as to achieve equality.

Over the past few years, the organization has maintained partnership with several other organizations to bring forth rewarding initiatives. The Rotary Club has teamed up with Interplast Australia and the Committee of German Doctors in order to “Put a Smile” to numerous indigent children with cleft lips and palate disorders.

Apart from that, the Cagayan de Oro Rotary Club is also responsible for the “Balik Eskwela & Feeding Program” at St. John (Purok Tabaco) as well as for the “Camiguin Cataract” medical mission.
